Just been listening to Johnny Walker on BBC Radio2.
He's playing some great tracks but that's nothing new ...
What is 'new' is today (and tomorrow) he's celebrating Radio 2's 40th birthday with music and memories of 1967 ... which it so happens was one of my favourite ever years ...
So far Johnny has played tracks such as 'Paper Sun' and 'Keep On Running' .. both of which I played and played that year ... mainly on the juke-box in the cafe in Merkland Street (Partick).
I'd keep feeding in my hard earned pennies till they shouted at me to stop.
All this musicality took place mainly in my break time as, back then, I was 'a clippie' on Glasgow Corporation Transport's buses and a shilling, five pence in 'new' money, got you three plays.

Paper Sun is a cacophony of sounds, one I love hearing to this day.
I'm guessing that it was most likely written under the influence of some 'illegal substance', which is something I knew nothing about back then, all I knew, all I know, was and is that I love it's amazing 'wall of sound' and the effect it has on me every time I hear it.

The photo is one of Johnny walker and Gloria Jones. Gloria I have had the pleasure of meeting, albeit fleetingly, Johnny I would love to meet as I'd love to pick his brain and hear some of his 'musical tales'.
Gloria was a sweet lady back in the early seventies, when myself and my young son had the pleasure of meeting both Gloria and her boyfriend Mark Bolan ...
We literally passed in a passageway 'back-stage' at a charity 'Five-a-Side' match held at the old Kelvin Hall. Marc smiled a smile I shall Never forget and struck me in that one fleeting meeting as a lovely 'Genuine' person ...
