Getting Back on the Blogging Horse ...

Which Part of 'Intermittent' don't You Understand ..?

Back when I started adding info to these pages I honestly thought 'Blogs' were for me but, over time, the appeal wasn't quite as obvious as I'd first though. As a result, albeit unintentionally, it would seem I've taken the meaning of 'Intermittent' to a whole new level.

More recently, with the inception of Google+, I've been happily reading the blog entries of friends I've found a connection with via that facility. And, after cheerily commenting on their entries I've noticed stirrings, whispers in my inner ear that perhaps I should try getting back on the 'blogging horse'.

So it is today.
In this instance, the addition of 'with tongue in cheek' could be added to the IMRoaGG title ;)

Listening to BBC Radio2 this afternoon I was fascinated by the 'Homework Sucks' section where a listener asked, "Why are cutlery drawers always counter intuitive when it comes to their layout?"
(My words / interpretation of the question asked)

Apparently the listener was under the misapprehension that all cutlery drawers are alike.
I have to beg to differ.

All my adult life, since as long ago as 1967, I have always had my cutlery drawers organised in a similar fashion, with knives forks and spoons in their designated section of (usually Adidas brand) any cutlery drawer I've been lucky enough to have owned.

I am led to ask, is this situation a societal one?

Is it only those with the financial wherewithal to afford a specially fitted kitchen that have this 'problem', have their cutlery drawer placements preordained for them by the manufacturers of fitted kitchens ?

I have never been financially well off enough to afford a fitted kitchen, not so much as a B&Q bog standard one ... so perhaps *having to* use my faithful Adidas accessories in each home I've lived in has led me into a sheltered and protected way of life? I have never had to ponder before now the sad situation where knives are to b found on the right hand side of the cutlery drawer and the forks are on the left, counter to the way they are to be laid on the dining table ...

I as unable to do any 'follow through' on this 'Homework Sucks' (on Simon Mayo's BBC Radio2 Drive-time slot) as I had to leave the kitchen and so switch off the radio, leaving Simon Mayo and co asking listeners with a knowledge in the relevant sections of society to call in with the solution to the 'reverse placement' of cutlery in cutlery drawer 'query'. Nor was I able to add my 'ten cents worth' ...
Until I remembered my long neglected blog ...

The rest as they say is history ...

Mine?
The knives are nearest the front mainly because that's where they have 'always' been ... and as they are the most likely to be used without the necessity to use any other implement in the drawer ...
Also, you may have noticed a certain 'counter alignment' with each of the sections ...
I use that as a way to distinguish between style of knife, fork or spoon.
i.e, that way I get to keep soup spoons and desert spoons separate while using the one drawer section ...

All I know is ... it works for me !

What about you?
How is your cutlery drawer laid out?
Knives to the right, forks to the left ..?
Or as You prefer it ..?
(as in the above photo).
